Amnesty urges blogging for human rights

Any thoughtful look round the world will notice the vast difference in the rights and opportunities people have.  Whether it is struggling just to get an education, or to criticise arbitrary authority, or to express one’s religion or lack of it, the basic human freedoms the world’s governments are committed to through the Universal Declaration are applied haphazardly or not at all.

On this day I am thinking particularly of countries where women are given less education than men, of the many countries where people are persecuted for the peaceful following of their religion, and those countries where the dominant religion, ideology or economic system suppresses alternative views.

Pray for a world where the rights to speak, hear, think, learn and disagree are universal.
