“Superb” Quaker Fundraising concert breaks target

A classical benefit concert for Winchmore Hill Friends Meeting House (18 Nov) broke its target.

Two well known local musicians, Rachel Brown and Gruffydd Owen, performed to a packed Meeting House, and Rachel also kindly provided CDs of her work to sell.  These went very rapidly.  Concert goers also gave generously for refreshments.

Winchmore Hill Quakers spokesperson Stephen Cox said “It was a tremendous success as an event.  The word people are using most is “superb”.   We are lucky to have had such great performers.  It also beat our hopes in terms of raising money.  We are finalising the modest costs of running the event but it is clear we well exceeded the £1000 profit we hoped for.”

Winchmore Hill Quakers have £33,000 to raise, for urgent works on our beautiful, historic, Grade II listed Meeting House.   Further fundraising events and activities are being discussed.  We have raised more than half the total and expect to make a substantive announcement about progress before Christmas.
